First edition of this distillation from Chesterfield's LETTERS.... In his Preface, Gregory suggests that "I believe I have preserved in this volume all that is really useful on the four volumes of Lord Chesterfield's Letters ...." This redaction for those unable to handle the meatier collection was reprinted in Ireland and the US.
