Jennie Wiley, 1760-1831, was taken captive by a group of Cherokee and Shawnee, from her home at Walker's Creek, Virginia; her three children and brother were killed in the raid. Held alternatively by the Cherokee and Shawnee for 11 months, she escaped into the forest, guided by a "vision", reaching at Harmman's Station, Johnson County, Kentucky, and safety. There is a Historical Marker commiserating her in Johnson County. Ayer Collection No. 52.
