The format changed several times, from a staple bound 8vo., to a slightly larger 8vo., to glazed paper over boards 4to., to paper bound 4to., with variations occurring occasionally. A complete run from 1952 to Fall, 2015: Vol. 1, No. 1, through Vol. 19, No. 4 (which is also No. 76), and No. 77 through No. 220. Mostly fine, with a few exceptions that are very good. Each issue would present theoretical issues, criticism, reviews, and portfolios of emerging photographers. Occasionally, an entire issue would be devoted to a specific theme or photographer. The contributors are a veritable who's who of photographers, critics and historians. The most important photographic journal since 1950.
