Roswell Franklin was a native of Connecticut who later resided in the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania. There he took part in the Pennamite War. His wife and brother were captured by the Indians with four children, and died in captivity. Howes H-753 (b); Ayer Collection Supplement 1, No.70. Eberstadt catalog 122, devoted to Indian Captivities , No. 193 states " An excessively rare book, of which the DePuy copy appears to be the only other one offered in over a quarter century."
