(Paris: Circa, 1845). Oblong folio, 26 engraved plates and engraved title. Gilt and blind-embossed boards, backed in calf with gilt tooling. The hinges have been repaired, and there is chipping to the lower corners, with scattered foxing. Item #29886

The first books illustrated by photographs used steel engravings based on daguerreotypes. Copies of this title have been located with 22, 24 and 25 plates. A similar, but with smaller size plates edition was issued with 28 plates.
