Thomas Seccombe (1866-1923)( was assistant editor to Sidney Lee of the DICTIONARY OF NATIONAL BIOGRAPHY from 1891 to 1900. After Meredith died, Seccombe wrote the Memoir for the 1901-1911 SUPPLEMENT to the DNB. When a Memoir of Seccombe eventually appeared in the DNB SUPPLEMENT for 1922-1930, it called his piece on Meredith "an example of his best work."
