ARTIST'S "HILDABE" SKETCH TABLET WITH SEVENTEEN PENCIL SKETCHES:

Oblong artist's sketch book of 19 leaves, 9 x 12 inches, with card covers and wire spiral binding. The front board, which has the manufacturer's printed label and a former owner's notes regarding the artist and contents written in ink, is detached and lacking the upper leading corner. The boards show early water stains and moderate soiling. Of the seventeen recto only leaves of pencil sketches, several are captioned, two are signed by the artist, several others could be assumed to be finished, and two are detached at the spiral end (one has moderate edge chipping). There is pencil transferring to the blank verso of the opposite leaf, with moderate toning. Item #54560

Amy Florence Dalrymple, 1865 - 1932, attended the Massachusetts Normal Art School. Her travels in Italy after 1885 were instrumental in her realistic style of rendering the landscape. Primarily a painter in oils and watercolors, she additionally decorated fine china and ceramics. She maintained a studio at 27 Wharf Street, Boston, and was a member of the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts and the Copley Society. This sketch book is largely of pencil drawings from Boston and Cape Cod.
