Issued as UNTITLED 51. In 1936, Walker Evans photographed Hale County, Alabama while working on LET US NOW PRAISE FAMOUS MEN with James Agee. William Christenberry was born in Hale County in 1936 and has photographed there throughout his career. The two became friends and traveled together through Hale County in the 1970s.
