The copy of Guy B. [Benton] Johnson, signed and dated U.N.C. 1924 on the first free flyleaf. Guy B. Johnson was a research assistant to Howard W. Odum (1924 - 1927) while completing his Ph.D. He remained at Chapel Hill until he retired as Kenan Professor of Sociology and Anthropology in 1969. He published widely on black culture in the rural South.
