The 3 photographic plates by P. Annaratone, illustrate 23 stone tools from the Neolithic period, found in the Eastern Band, a territory located east of the Uruguay River and north of the Río de la Plata, on the Atlantic coast of South America. Roberto Ferrari, an authority on Argentine books illustrated with original photographs, cites this pamphlet as a primary example, possibly the first indigenous Argentine work to be illustrated with mounted photographs, Ferrari clearly states that this work was published in Mercedes in the state of Buenos Aires, 100 kilometers west of the city of Buenos Aires, and not to be confused with the city of Mercedes, in what is now Uruguay. OCLC locates only 2 copies, both at the British Library.
