An African-American portrait photographer, (b.1883, Fayetteville, North Carolina) apprenticed at Rice Studios of Washington in 1900; opened his own studio in 1911 in Washington. He was first assisted by his wife, later by his two sons, who carried on the business after his death in 1964. The introduction is by Michael R. Winston; included is a catalogue of the exhibition.
