A semi-monthly publication for which S.D. Humphrey (1823-1883) was both the editor and publisher. After the third volume (Vol. III, No. 1, Nov. 1851 to Vol. III, No. 3, Dec. 1851) the title changed it name to: HUMPHREY'S JOURNAL OF THE DAGUERREOTYPE AND PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS AND THE SCIENCES AND ARTS PERTAINING TO HELIOGRAPHY. This is the first journal in the world devoted to the photographic arts, preceding THE PHOTOGRAPHIC ART JOURNAL by two months (January 1851).
