The authors present evidence that Henry Hunt Snelling's 1849, THE HISTORY AND PRACTICE OF THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY, which was commonly referred to as the first bound American work on the subject, was plagiarized from several earlier works, including George Thomas Fisher, Junior's, PHOTOGENIC MANIPULATION, published in an American edition, Philadelphia 1845.
