Howard Norton Cook (Springfield, Massachusetts 1901 - 1980 Santa Fe, New Mexico) was an American artist known primarily for his wood engravings and murals. He arrived in Taos, New Mexico in 1926 and largely resided in New Mexico until his death. In 1929, Weyhe Gallery held an exhibition of Cook's prints and drawings, commissioning this print, which was used as a holiday greeting. There are various states of the engraving, this being the first; later states of the print have the text at the bottom removed and are signed in pencil by the artist.
