Aaron Siskind (1903 - 1991) was long associated as the photographer of the Abstract Expressionist group. This, his last body of work was made of the tar stains and patches in the road near his home in Providence, Rhode Island. A fitting accompaniment to Whitman's poem, SONG OF THE OPEN ROAD.
"The book was set in English Monotype Scoth at Golgonooza Letter Foundry by Julia Ferrari and Dan Carr. The text was printed by Heritage Printers on a paper made at Carterie Enrico Magnani. Paul Taylor made the photogravure plates and printed them with Clary Nelson at Renaissance Press on Richard de Bas paper. The book was designed by Kevin Begos Jr. and Dan Carr." - The Colophon.
