Founded in 1897 by Frank Chambers as THE CAMERA, in 1923 it merged with THE PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNAL OF AMERICA. Published monthly, with the volume number ranging from 6 to 12 issues at various times. Publisher and location changed frequently. Largely concerned with technical considerations, it reproduced b&w photographs by amateurs and accomplished Pictorialists,such as Leonard Misonne and Robert S. Redfield.
