THE AMERICAN ANNUAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY (AND PHOTOGRAPHIC TIMES ALMANAC).

THE AMERICAN ANNUAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY (AND PHOTOGRAPHIC TIMES ALMANAC). NEAR COMPLETE IN SIXTY-FIVE VOLUMES.

NY: The Scovill & Adams Co., 1887-99, 1902-53. First editions. 4tos., variable paginations, b&w photos. 65 volumes. A near complete run, lacking only 2 volumes (1900,1901). Various bindings; most in the publisher's stiff wrappers, a few of which have been repaired, and a few bound in publisher's cloth over boards. Most of the issues from 1902-1916 have a faint dampstain along the lower margin. A very good set with an occasional chipped wrapper or owner's name. Item #29839

The earliest years contain an original photographic frontispiece and one or two other original photographs mounted to board with printed captions. In later years, the frontispiece and other "special" illustrations were made using a variety of photomechanical processes; other illustrations were in halftone. A compendium of the year's technical improvements and artistic achievements.

In 1903, this periodical absorbed "The International Annual of Anthony's Photographic Bulletin." Publication began in 1887 and ceased in 1953.
