A few volumes show early dampstaining, and all volumes have been newly bound in quarter cloth and paper over board with paper spine label, t.e.g. Each volume is comprised of 26 weekly issues, the the original wrappers bound-in Vol. 1. Comprised of letters to the editor, reviews of salons and photographic societies, short articles on technique, photographic artistry, and other practical aspects of the medium. P. H. Emerson was a frequent contributor, as was H. P. Robinson. A. Horsley Hinton, a founding member of the Linked Ring took over the editorship in 1893. Illustrated with line drawings and woodcuts, with the halftone illustrations appearing with improved clarity and frequency in later issues.
