This manual by Dr. Vogel is a classic in the field of photographic technology and its theory. The latest innovations in light sensitive coatings, apparatus and techniques are contained in each succeeding edition. Hermann Vogel was an outstanding industrial chemist and physicist. His interest in photography started around 1860, and by 1863 he had founded the Berlin Photographische Verein, and in 1864 he was awarded the chair of photochemistry at the academy. His research in dye sensitization of photographic plates made possible the development of orthochromatic, panchromatic and color photography. He was a prolific writer of books and articles on photography.
