There are ink and pencil notes regarding chemical formulas on front and rear endpapers, which appear to be contemporary. Very good. Item #26201

Includes description of recovering gold and silver from exhausted solutions, making photomechanical plates, and a survey with formulas of photo processes including dry collodion, Fothergills, Taupenot, etc.

Gernsheim INCUNABULA No. 838 which states "This is the 4th edition of the author's enlarged manual, originally published under a different title in 1853." Roosens and Salu No. 6373 does not note an 1860 edition.
